A little bit about ME!!
Visual artist working from home in Chevy Chase, MD
High School: Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School, class of 2019
College: Bowdoin College, BA in Visual Arts, class of 2023
While I’ve loved drawing since I was a toddler, I didn’t truly begin pursuing art until college. While majoring in art I discovered the seemingly endless media and avenues for expression offered by the visual arts. I found that making and studying art allowed me to think differently about the other subjects I was learning. Ideas constantly led to new ideas, and I left college determined to continue making art for the rest of my life.
Since graduating from college in May 2023 I’ve been working as a support staff and job coach for young adults with disabilities. I am grateful for the opportunities I have in my current jobs to bring creativity to work with me and to encourage my clients to express themselves.
Through my work I’ve experienced art’s capacity to expand individual and interpersonal language and expression. Art is direct and sensory, making it accessible to people at every intellectual and developmental level. Art gives shape to unconscious experiences and sensations which our symbolic systems fail to represent. At its best, art challenges its viewers to recognize alternative perspectives and to celebrate difference.
Being a visual artist has helped me unlock new tools to explore and come to terms with myself and the world around me. My art is mine to make and to embody, and I feel comforted knowing it will be there for me in sad and happy times.
Outside of art and my jobs, I spend most of my time hanging out with my twin sister Macie, listening to music, watching movies, and cheering for the Washington Capitals and Baltimore Ravens.
